Aubrey + George / an Intimate Outdoor Wedding by Cedar Rapids, Iowa

I absolutely adored this gorgeous outdoor wedding in grandma Peggy’s stunning yard outside of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It may not have been the original plan, but it was perfection.

As they BOTH pointed out in their vows, George is the Jim to Aubrey’s Pam and I believe these two would say “I do” anywhere, anytime, under any circumstances. All they needed was to be surrounded by their closest loved ones to have the absolute best time.

I’ve honestly never had to wipe tears away from my own eyes during a first look…but this daddy/daughter first look got me! They have so much love and respect for one another and it showed as soon as he turned around to see her. Then George got to see her for the first time in her dress and her awesomely unique shoes and the rest was history!

Family is so important to both the bride and groom. So much that they even incorporated old wedding photos of their dear loved ones into their ceremony arch. In eleven years as a photographer I’ve never had a couple do this and it was truly something special.

There is something to be said about these micro-weddings that have been brought to us by 2020. Many wrenches have been thrown in many plans, but the weddings that have come out of it have been more heartfelt, intimate and breathtaking beyond anything I could have imagined. Instead of dwelling on their misfortune, they’ve been counting their blessings and the biggest blessing of all is loving one another.
